​​Options for Psychological Services

Full Fee:

​

• Adults: $250 per 50 minutes

• Children: $250 per 50 minutes

Private Health Insurance:

​

• Benefits: Depending on your level of cover, you might be able to claim additional benefits for psychological services.

• Action: Contact your insurer to find out the benefits available under your plan.

Medicare Rebate:

Visit Your GP:

• Schedule: Book a double appointment with your GP to discuss your mental health concerns.

• Discuss: Be honest about your symptoms and how they're affecting your life.

• Assessment: Your GP will assess your mental health and determine if you need psychological support.

• Questionnaires: You may be asked to fill out questionnaires to help understand your situation.

Mental Health Care Plan​

​

• Referral: This plan will include a referral allowing you to access Medicare rebates for up to 10 individual and 10 group therapy sessions per calendar year.

• Forwarding: Ask your GP to forward these to The Grounding Place or bring them with you to your first session.

• Creation: If your GP determines that you need psychological services, they will create a Mental Health Care Plan for you.

• Medicare Rebates:

• Rebate Amount: After each session, you can claim a rebate from Medicare. The rebate amount is usually $96.65 for 50 minutes, depending on the session's length and type.

Fees:

• Initial Appointment: $250

• Subsequent Sessions: $240

• Concession (Concession Card Holder - Health Care or Seniors Card): $170

Additional Services and Private Fees:

 

 

Please note that reports, letters, case conferences, and other documentation services are not covered under the Medicare Mental Health Care Plan. These services require additional time outside of standard therapy sessions and therefore incur a private fee, payable at the time of request.

 

Below are the average fees for commonly requested services:

 

• Brief Letter or Summary Report (e.g., for school or GP) – $80

• Comprehensive Psychological Report – $250–$400

• NDIS Reports – $300–$450

• Case Conference (up to 50 mins) – $200

• Email or Phone Consultations over 10 mins – $50–$100 (depending on time and complexity)

• Completion of Forms (e.g., Centrelink, housing) – $80–$150
